Food processed from crop and bird produced cast overnight. Absorbed all fluids. Cleaned wound on R flank with dilute chlorhex and applied small amount of DermaGel. Placed on ground in exam room - bird mostly laid sternal, opened mouth at handlers, was able to prompt them to grip reflexively on side of exam cart. Flaps when lufted. Gave SQ fluids and med, gave oral meds. Dropped 35g chick. LRS SQ: 66.40 cc (LRS) SQ - R inguinal Terbinafine: 0.58 cc (50 mg/ml compounded ) PO Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole: 1.10 cc (48 mg/ml) PO CaEDTA: 0.23 cc (200 mg/ml inj) SQ - L inguinal in 5cc NaCl DMSA: 0.40 cc (100 mg/ml) PO Weight change: -89 g (7 %)

Crop has liquidy mostly processed food. Ears: NSF Eyes: OS: Retinal tear along far lateral aspect from pectin Wings: NSF Legs: Not using legs to stand and only flexing toes. Deep pain response in both feet. Feet: NSF Body: Abdomen distended. Small wound scabbed on R flank, healing. Ectoparasites: Flat flies Radiographic findings: No fractures noted. Stomach is very full and GI tract is backed up. Initial treatment: 30cc LRS PO; 43cc LRS SQ
A: Patient suffering from GI stasis with potential crop stasis brought on by lead poisoning. No fractures noted on x-rays. Patient also displaying some leg paralysis and not trying to stand on own. Will begin treating to try and evacuate/flush out system before giving more food. Will need to monitor crop to make sure that digested food gets processed as well.
P: Rx DMSA, CaEDTA, TMS, Terbinafine, oral and SQ fluids. Evacuate vent BID. Repeat lateral of GI and crop for processing. Hold off on food for a couple of days.
